Since 2007, we have done an annual Capture Your Babie Contest (except for 2010 when I was really sick during pregnancy).  Many of those "Babies" have outgrown the contest and I've been asked quite a few times what's next?!  Well, it's here.  The first annual Capture Your Tween Contest!  Here are the rules:

- Anyone who calls themself a "tween" can enter
- Dates are June 14 - July 2
- Location is outdoors on our property in Lanexa, Virginia (directions will be e-mailed to those who sign up.  If the weather is not cooperating, we'll reschedule your session)
- Sessions are 20 minutes long
- $25 per tween
- This might be a difficult decision, but I will be choosing the winner.  I'm looking for the image that makes my heart smile the most.
- The winner will receive a family session and a $250 portrait credit to our studio.
- Have your "tween" wear their favorite clothes (provided you approve!).  How do you want to capture this phase of their life?
- $10 referral credit given for each family you refer.  Even if you don't have a "tween" entering, you can still refer and use the credit for other sessions.
- The "tween" who refers the most will receive a $50 gift card towards their school supplies.  Target? Walmart? That should make Mom smile.  (This is a total of one gift card for the winning referral family.)

An amazing day for an amazing couple!  Geoff & Kara were married at Colonial Gardens Bed & Breakfast in Williamsburg, VA.  The day flowed seemlessly in a picturesque, quaint setting with innkeepers who attended to every detail.  From catering to the bouquets, the innkeepers did it all!  And of course, the delicious wedding cake was from the Carrot Tree.  We ended the day with a post wedding session in Colonial Williamsburg's historic district.  Kara & Geoff, thanks for letting us capture your day!

Spring Moments Mini-Sessions

Spring is definitely in the air and I must say I love it!  We're offering spring portrait mini-sessions.  The session is $50 for a half hour session at our place in Lanexa, VA anytime during the month of May.  We have buttercups galore and those little white flowers that make great daisy chains.  And a field of tallish grass.  (I know I'm making my English teachers cringe but oh well!)  And a fun fishing dock with turtles in abundance.  Collections begin at $150 and are as follows:

Collection No. 1: 2 8x10s; 4 5x7s ($150)
Collection No. 2: A wooden collage block with image printed on the wood (very fun, very new!) ($235)
Collection No. 3: 8x8 Album $350

New York City

New York City. Taxis. Honking. Loud. Inspiring. And so not Williamsburg!

We headed up to New York City this past weekend for a whirlwind business trip with a portrait session and some meetings.  Despite the sou'easter storm that decided to dump water on the East Coast, we managed to sneak the boys to Central Park for a few minutes before the storm let loose.  A trip to New York is just not complete without a visit to Central Park...good grief!  While I love the laid backness of the Williamsburg area, I needed to get away.  I really, really needed to get away from all things Williamsburg.  And what better place than New York City. And experiencing New York on a rainy day isn't all bad.  We found great parking spots everywhere and people were very friendly opening doors and saying hello right and left.  Of course, when you have sweet little boys wearing firemen boots and gazing in awe at everything, it melts everyone's hearts!

And Baby makes 5!

Outside our windows each day, I've been watching the leaves unfold bit by bit. Hands down, Spring is my favorite season as the world wakes slowly from its frigid slumber. And what better time than now to welcome a new birth as well!
